Our Voice 2024
Our Voice has been refreshed for 2024. The Wellbeing and Resilience survey and previous Our Voice surveys have been combined, making it easier for council colleagues to share their thoughts on working at Calderdale Council in one place.
What will we be doing?
The Survey
The first stage of Our Voice is the survey. This is a space for all council colleagues to give their opinions on their experiences of working at Calderdale Council by answering a range of questions. Once the results of the survey have been analysed, they will be shared and published here for staff to access.
We want to hear your thoughts and opinions on a variety of topics that influence your experience of working at Calderdale Council. These include:
- Leadership and Vision
- People Management
- Working for Calderdale
- Benefits, Reward and Recognition
- Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
- Health and Wellbeing
The information gained from Our Voice will allow the Human Resources & Organisational Development teams to find out what is working well for colleagues and work with you to make changes and improvements.
Discussion Groups and Feedback Boards
Once the survey results have been analysed and shared, there will be opportunities for staff to attend discussion groups to talk about different areas of working life at the council. The Organisational Development team will host these discussion groups and they will be themed on the same topics that are asked in the survey, but with a specific focus on the findings of the survey and how we can work together to change the way things are at the council.
There will also be the opportunity to share your thoughts through a feedback board here on our CitizenLab page, for staff who can't make it to a face to face session or would prefer to share their thoughts anonymously.
Action Plan
Based on the findings of both the survey, and the discussion groups, a 2 year action plan will be created. This will outline the actions and commitments the council will take to improve the working environment for council staff. The action plan will also be published for staff to see here on our CitizenLab page.

Phases
Survey Results
Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the Our Voice survey. The results have now been analysed and the full report can be found here.
Our focus over the next 12 months will be organised in to 3 key areas:
- How we work
- Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
- Wellbeing at work
We are currently planning focus groups to gain further insight from council staff on these 3 areas. This will enable us to work together to coproduce the actions that need to be taken to make Calderdale Council a better place to work. Please keep an eye on our GoVocal site and in Ecall for information about how to take part in the focus groups.
