Vision & Objectives
Calderdale Transport Strategy 2040 : Vision & Objectives
The Draft Vision –
The vision sets out the big-picture goal – future we want to create for travel in Calderdale over the next 10 to 15 years. It gives a clear picture of the future we’re aiming for, so everyone knows what we’re working towards. It helps guide decisions, stay on track, and use time and money wisely. A good vision also helps people feel part of something bigger – it explains what’s important and why it matters.
Our Vision Statement is:
"Calderdale in Motion: From valley floors to Pennine peaks, our transport network will support resilient places, thriving people and a healthy planet."
It’s about building a transport system that works for everyone, wherever you live and however you travel, guiding our decisions to create a Calderdale that moves and works better for all.
Our Strategic Objectives –
The strategic objectives break the vision into clear priorities. They help organise the strategy so we can focus on what matters most. Each objective acts like a building block — showing what needs to happen to achieve the vision. This makes sure that the strategy is easy to follow, deliver, and to measure progress.
Our objectives focus on building a resilient, healthy, and thriving Calderdale through smarter travel choices, greater connectivity, and reduced environmental impact.
Our strategic objectives are:
- Healthy – Using everyday journeys to proactively improve health through enabling more physical activity and reducing transport’s carbon and pollution footprint.
- Resilient – Enabling journeys through a transport system that effectively manages risk on a constrained network and builds confidence in sustainable travel, ensuring Calderdale can adapt to future challenges.
- Thriving – Helping our communities, businesses, and innovators to flourish, supporting local opportunity, access to education and employment, and stronger links with our regional neighbours.
Check the "Vision and Objectives Explained" document at the bottom of this page for a simple explanation and breakdown of what the vision and objectives mean.
